He was passionate about painting and writing, techniques that he developed as a self-taught artist: he had a dual career as a teacher and as a visual artist.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAt the end of the Second World War, he founded with Yves Bonnefoy and Claude Tarnaud the review La Révolution la nuit.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eFrom 1946 to 1948, he was a member of the surrealist group.
